We asked and you voted! This weeks winner of the ‘Athlete of the week’ poll is Adam Dziatkiewicz! Adam (number 7) is a 18 year old senior who plays for the varsity football team at OHS. Adam started playing football at the age of eight, since then he has grown into a much stronger football player. Adams is a cornerback, who had six tackles, and 2 interceptions against West Bend West on October 14th 2016.

“I have absolutely no regrets joining football” Adam stated. And why would he, since his sophomore year Adam has had the privilege of being on the varsity team. Adam has not only been a great football player on the field, but he has been a great leader that underclassmen can look up to in their own future varsity experiences.

“I look up to all of my coaches. They have all helped me grow, become a better football player, and a better man in their own ways” Adam said. An athlete can only do so much by themselves, but when they have amazing coaches like coach Roman, and coach McMillen to lead and represent the team, athletes like Adam get pushed to do not only their best but to exceed what they thought was possible. Coaches are not the only people that Adam looks up to, defensive back Tyrann Mathieu has been a huge influence for Adam. “I mostly admire his journey and path into the NFL, it’s amazing” Adam stated.

It’s been very up in the air if Adam will be playing for a college team or not, but he hopes not to lose touch of the sport in college. “After high school if football doesn’t work out I think I am going to be a Navy or Marine officer. I would go through the ROTC program somewhere.” Adam stated.

Adams daily schedule is pretty crazy with practices starting right after school or around 5 o’clock and lasting around 3 hours. Football is definitely a lot of work but if Adam continues on the path he is currently on and continues to have great games, any college school would be lucky to have a cornerback like Adam.
Cooney criers twitter @cooneycrierocon sent out a poll asking who the athlete of the week should be. Out of 179 votes 44% of the voters voted for Adam.
